Facelift

Deep Plane: The modern revolution in facial lifting.

Dr. Drakotos performs the Deep Plane Facelift, the most advanced and reliable method for face and neck lifting. By operating on the deeper layers—the more stable anatomical structures—the natural balance of the face is restored, achieving a youthful, harmonious, and long-lasting result. By lifting and tightening sagging tissues, time is reversed, rediscovering the youthful version of the face with absolute naturalness.

DEEP PLANE FACELIFT

The Deep Plane Facelift represents a revolution in face and neck lifting. This innovative method, performed by only a few specialized surgeons worldwide, is not limited to a simple “pull” but intervenes in the deeper layers to restore natural youthfulness without the artificial “pulled” look of older techniques.

The lifting occurs at a deep level, beneath the facial muscles, starting from the area near the eyes and extending down to the neck. In this way, the face and neck are lifted simultaneously and harmoniously, providing a more stable, natural, and long-term result.

Incisions are carefully designed around the ear, remaining discreet and fading gradually over time; within a few months, they become nearly invisible, without distorting the natural hairline, the shape of the ear, or the surrounding area. In some cases, for even better results in the neck area, a small additional incision may be made under the chin. This achieves a special “double support” that helps tighten the area and improve the overall contour.

COMBINED PROCEDURES

A Facelift is very often combined with a Browlift or Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty. When there is a need to restore lost facial volume, it is combined with fat transfer (microfat/nanofat).

Additionally, it pairs perfectly with anti-aging methods aimed at improving skin texture, such as:

Face Contouring: A non-invasive technique focusing on the facial outline. It enhances firmness and “sculpts” areas that remain more demanding after a Facelift, using technologies such as radiofrequencies, ultrasound, or injectables.

Laser Resurfacing: Performed before or after the Facelift to improve skin texture and color tone. It helps reduce fine lines, discolorations, and photoaging, resulting in smoother and more uniform skin.

DETAILS

RESULT
Immediate. Expect bruising and swelling, which typically last for 1-2 weeks.
PAIN
Variable. Oral pain medication may be required for a maximum of 5-7 days.
POST-OP PROTECTION
The head will remain wrapped overnight in a bandage, which is removed the day after surgery. Subsequently, a chin strap will be worn (can be covered with a scarf) for at least 2 weeks.
SUTURE REMOVAL
Some sutures are removed in 5-7 days and others in 10-14 days. Drains are typically removed one day after surgery.
ACTIVITIES
Showering is permitted 2 days after surgery. No lifting weights over 10-12 kg for 2 weeks. Driving is allowed once pain medication is no longer required.
EXERCISE
No strenuous activity or heavy lifting for at least 6 weeks. It is necessary to take 1-2 weeks off work, depending on job requirements.
FOLLOW-UP
The patient is monitored on the 1st day post-op, then at the office at 1 week, 2 weeks, 6 weeks, and 3 months (or whenever deemed necessary).

FACELIFT DETAILS

The procedure is performed under either general anesthesia or IV sedation (twilight anesthesia) with local anesthetic.
Small drainage tubes are placed and removed starting from the 2nd day and gradually up to the 12th day, depending on the case.
The patient must keep their head elevated for the first 24 hours. During the second 24-hour period, walking and light activity are permitted. Hair washing is allowed after the third day.
The result of the facelift is immediate, but the final appearance emerges once the swelling subsides. Most swelling recedes after the 2nd week, but 3-4 months are required for it to disappear completely.
The duration of the results varies, but for an average face in an individual with relatively stable weight, it can last up to 15 years.
In some cases, hypesthesia (numbness) or itching may occur behind the incision for a few centimeters. This should not cause concern as it typically resolves after a few weeks.
